But in a society where books are burnt and free men are the “prey of greedy vultures and spies,” factions are growing behind both charismatic leaders. When Sejanus sets his sight on Emperorship, who will stop him? First staged at the dawn of the Jacobean age, Ben Jonson’s brilliantly incisive drama takes on startling new significance in its bold exploration of tyranny, sycophancy, and treason.
