  Strategic Love Play, by Danny Gavigan, directed by Matthew Gardiner, featuring Danny Gavigan (Man) and Gligh Voth (Woman), opens at DC’s Signature Theatre.

 

  Julius: Re-envisioning of the Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare, written & directed by Nicole Brewer, featuring Brandon (Carter Juliux X), Del Palmer (Marc Anthony), Jay Frisby (Cassius), Lilli Hokamer (Addara), Greg Alverez Reid (Brutus), Nikkole Calpurnia), Gaelyn D.   Otherkin, by N.T. Vandecar, directed by directed by Chistina Carlisi, featuring Nychelle Hawk (Olive), Stephany Erb (Vivian/Grael), Justin Lawrence Barnes (Lucax), Andre G. Brown (Darren/Fafnir), and Arthur Hanket (Howy/Naelyan), begins previews at North Hollywood’s Road on Magnolia.

  The world premiere of  Will Close’s Porn Play will run Nov. 6 – Dec. 13 (opening Nov. 13) at the Royal Court Theatre, directed by Josie Rourke.

 Ani is a dazzling young academic with a secret addiction to violent pornography.  In between receiving awards and delivering lectures on Paradise Lost, her career and relationships begin to unravel as she struggles to confront her uncontrollable desires.

   Tamara Stern’s I’ll Give You My Heart will run Oct. 2 – 19   (opening Oct. 4) at Burbank’s Colony Theater, directed by James Mellon.

  Charlotte (Charlie) and Ben are destined to be together. On the morning of their wedding, Ben dies in a tragic car accident. Since that fateful day, Ben’s ghost has been Charlie’s constant source of comfort. When she meets Sam, the mysterious connection between them forces Charlie to choose between opening her heart and the promise she made to her dying fiancé. I’ll Give You My Heart explores the complex struggle with prolonged grief, forgiveness, and learning to love again.

   Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theatre will host In Memory & Celebration of Jules Feiffer on Sun. Sept. 28, at 12 noon.

 

   The event will include reflections from five speakers, two musical performances: an original seven minute piece composed and performed by Andrew Lippa in honor of Jules, and a special musical tribute written for this occasion by Bruce Wolosoff, along with a multimedia presentation of photos and video. A lobby reception with light bites, provided by JZ Holden, will follow the program. A cash bar will be available and coffee will be complimentary….  In conjunction with the celebration, the Julie Keyes Gallery will share selections of Jules Feiffer’s work, offering friends and admirers a meaningful way to continue honoring his artistry.

  In 1975, late night TV was a wasteland of bad programming and even worse ratings. So nobody paid much attention when a new show debuted with a cast of virtual nobodies. But they would…Come along the journey and go behind the scenes as Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Lorne Michaels, Garrett Morris, Bill Murray, Laraine Newman, and Gilda Radner rocket from unknown comics to cultural icons, and together, make Saturday Night the best night of the week.
