A queer love story set inside the landscape of classical myth. In order to avoid becoming dinner for a sea monster, Gallathea and Phillida are sent into the forest dressed as boys. Meanwhile, three shipwrecked brothers set out to seek their fortunes, Cupid stirs up his usual trouble, nymphs fall for mortals, and Neptune – God of the Sea – waits to make his move.
Galatea (Mar. 22 at 7:30 PM ET), by MJ Kaufman, directed by Will Davis. featuring Ty Defoe, Jo Lampert, Even Lindley, Aneesh Shesh, Futaba Shioda, and TL Thompson.
A trans love story set against the backdrop of a climate crisis. Loosely based on John Lyly’s Gallathea, MJ Kaufman’s new play tells the story of two young women from a village threatened with flooding, who escape to the nearby woods disguised as boys and fall in love.

NY Governor Cuomo has announced the long-awaited return of live indoor performances across the state will commence Apr. 2 with the re-opening of a significant number of Flex Venues, as part of an ongoing systematic effort to help jumpstart NYC’s struggling live entertainment sector.
NY PopsUp was established to help revitalize the spirit and emotional well-being of NY citizens through the energy of live performances set over 100 days throughout NYC and the state.
New safety protocols will also serve as the pilot program to re-open Flex Venues, include the following culture hubs:

St. Ann’s Warehouse
The SHED
Harlem Stage
La MaMa
National Black Theatre
The Glimmerglass Festival’s Alice Busch Opera Theater
In April, select Broadway theaters will open their doors to audiences for the first time since Mar. 12, 2020, with a series of special NY PopsUp programs, and will put in motion safety protocols that will eventually be employed for Broadway’s return. NYPopsUp, the Tribeca Film Festival, and The Festival at Little Island will together bring a total of more than 1,000 performances to New York Stage by Labor Day (note: some have already occurred), signaling an event unmatched in scale and unrivaled in scope.
Per New York State’s Department of Health, attendee capacity of any performance must my limited to the lesser of 33& of the maximum occupancy for the particular are or 50 people, up to a maximum of 150 attendees, within a 33% maximum occupancy limit for the particular area so long as all attendees receive and appropriate negative diagnostic test result prior to the event.

May Adrales has been selected as The Lark’s new artistic director, with the announcement arriving less than a week after John Clinton Eisner shared his retirement from the Off-Broadway company.
Adrales returns to The Lark after nearly a decade at Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, which she joined as a board member in 2012 and became associate artistic director of in 2017.
