In the jump-scare horror genre, the play examines white supremacy and patriarchyThe story centers on a group of Mexican-American women in Sedona, Arizona, who convert the luxurious basement man cave of a Republican congressman into their own spiritual war room and protective sanctuary from the violence of men, both real and supernatural.

  Complete casting has been announced for The Lehman Trilogy, by Stefano Massini, adapted by Ben Power, to run Mar. 3 – Apr. 10 (opening Mar. 6) at the Ahmanson Theatre, directed by Sam Mendes. The play runs 3 hours & 15 min.

  On a cold September morning in 1844, a young man from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside, dreaming of a new life in the new world.   An invitation-only industry reading of Ari Afsar & Lauren M. Gunderson’s We Won’t Sleep will take place Dec. 17 & 18 in NYC, directed by Erin Ortman, with music supervision by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, and choreography by Yusha-Mari Sorzano. The new bio-musical based on the life of Jeannette Rankin, America’s first congresswoman. Elected to Congress in 1916 (three years before white women were granted the right to vote), Rankin found herself to be the only female voice within the halls of power to vote on women’s suffrage.

  The Daughter-in-Law, by D.H. Lawrence, will run Feb. 23 – Mar. 20 at the Mint Theater Company, directed by Gus Kaikkonen.

 Set against the background of a pit strike, the play tells the story of Luther Gascoyne, a young miner, and his newly wed wife Minnie, a former governess. The tensions and misunderstandings they suffer as a result of their different backgrounds are exacerbated by the powerful influence of Luther’s mother and brought to open conflict when it is discovered that Luther, before his marriage, has made another woman pregnant. As the labor unrest comes to a boil, so does the simmering conflict between Luther and Minnie

  Off-Broadway’s Second Stage has announced its New Voices Reading Series in January, all of which begin at 6:30 PM ET at the Tony Kiser Theater. Casting TBA.

  Toros (Jan. 18), by Danny Tejera, directed by David Mendizábal.  Three international late-20-year-olds (and one dying golden retriever) hang out, get drunk, smoke weed, and more in a garage in Madrid as they try to sort out their lives.

  The Sensational Sea Mink-ettes (Jan. 24), by Vivian J.O. Barnes, directed by Cristina Angeles.   The story of a dance team as they prepare for their homecoming performance. As the big day creeps closer, infighting and the quest for perfection threaten to tear the group apart, until three of their teammates suddenly go missing.

  Yellow Dream$ (Jan. 31), by Susan Xu, directed by May Adrales. A dark comedy with music that follows an aspiring Asian-American producer and her quest to diversify the white imagination.

  A Broadway Christmas will take place Sun. Dec. 19 at 7:30 PM PT at LA’s Catalina Jazz Club, co hosted by Eden Espinosa and David Burnham, with music direction by Gerald Sternbach.

  The Vineyard Theatre and WP Theater will present the world premiere of Charly Evon Simpson’s sandblasted Feb. 3 – Mar. 6 (opening Feb. 22) at the Vineyard Theatre, directed by Summer L Williams.

Khandi Alexander, Marinda Anderson, Brittany Bellizeare, and Andy Lucien.

The play follows Angela and Odessa on a search for healing. When they stumble upon a celebrity-turned-wellness-maven, they decide to follow her lead not knowing that the journey could very well be the cure.

  An archival film version of Stanley Houghton’s Hindle Wakes continues streaming through Dec. 16 at Off-Broadway’s Mint Theatre, directed by Martin Platt.

It’s “Wakes Week” in Hindle; the mill is closed and the workers are idle. Fanny Hawthorn is relaxing at the seashore with a girlfriend when she runs into Alan Jeffcote, the mill owner’s son. Alan takes Fanny to an hotel in Wales for a few days of fun, but the fun stops when their parents find out.

The American Theatre Wing‘s Andrew Lloyd Webber Initiative has announced 2021 recipients of university scholarships and grants, including the inaugural recipients of the Stewart F. Lane Fellowship for Career Advancement. Each recipient will be able to renew their scholarship for four years as long as a GPA of at least 3.0 is maintained.

Recipients (receiving scholarships of up to $10,000 towards course fees at a four-year university program):
