   The American Soldier, a solo play written, conceived, directed & performed by Douglas Taurel, will run Dec. 2-21 (opening Dec. 4) at A.R.T. New York Theaters (502 W. 53rd St.)

 

  The play explores the struggles and sacrifies of American soldiers and their families from the Revolutionary War to the present day, using real stories from historical letter and innterviews. The production is not political, but rather a tribute to veterans, aimed at deepening public understanding of their experiences in combat and their transition back to civilian life, including challenges like PTSD.

A disillusioned high school student finds a supernatural notebook called Death Note.  The notebook, dropped by a bored Shinigami named Ryuk, allows him to kill anyone whose name he writes in it. Light begins using it to kill criminals, creating a new world order under the alias “Kira.” His actions attract the attention of the world’s greatest detective, L, who is determined to uncover and  attract the attention of the world’s greatest detective,The musical condenses the first arc of the manga, culminating in a dramatic and tragic climax.
