RIP: Olivia De Havilland died of natural causes on July 26 in Paris at the age of 104.
Starring in 49 feature films, she won Oscars for “To Each His Own” and “The Heiress,” as well as earning 3 additional nominations for “Gone With the Wind,” “Hold Back the Dawn,” and “The Snake Pit” (1948).
On Broadway, she appeared in Romeo and Juliet (1951), Candida, and A Gift of Time. (written by Garson Kanin, and also starring Henry Fonda, Marian Seldes, and Joseph Campanella).
De Havilland was last seen in public following her July 1 birthday looking fantastic on a big red tricycle on the streets of Paris:

HBO‘s film adaptation of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ “Between the World and Me” will air this Fall (premiere TBA), directed by Kamilah Forbes.
The film, which premiered in 2018 at the Apollo Theater, will combine elements of the stage play, readings from Coates’ book, and documentary and archival footage from the actors’ home lives. The original book, “Between the World and Me,” is a letter to Coates’ teenage son and recounts his experiences growing up in Baltimore and his feats of daily violence against the Black community.

RIP: Michael Mandell, who made his Broadway debut in Big River (1987), has died. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed
Mandell returned to Broadway in 2010 in Elf, and appeared in the national tour of It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues. Off Broadway, he appeared in Machinal, Blood Wedding, Romance in Hard Times, Hit the Lights, and A New Brain, with regional appearances in Captains Courageous, Miss Ever’s Boys, Triumph of Love, The Fantastiks, Amadeus, and The Boys From Syracuse.
Television credits includes “Person of Interest,” “NYC22,” “Glee”, “The Rosie o’Donnell Show,” “Ed,” “Law & ORderL SVA,” “Ugly Betty,” and “Guiding Light.” Film appearances include “New Year’s Ever,” “I Love You Philip Morris,” “Choose,” “Joe’s Apartment,” and Anger Management.”

Alan Menken has reached EGOT status, becoming the 16th person in history to win a competitive Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.
Menken won a Daytime Emmy (with Glenn Slater) on July 26 for “Waiting in the Wings.” from the Disney Channel’s “Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.”
Menken has won 8 Oscars and 11 Grammys for his work on such animated Disney films as “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Pocahontas,” and more.
Menken’s first Tony Award was won in 2012 for Newsies.
