This bold new production of Clifford Odets’ timeless masterpiece tells a story about aspiration, family and how to live with dignity in America. It’s the 1930s, and the Bronx is a furnace. New ideas clash with the old amidst the poverty and shattered promises of the Great Depression. And three generations of the Berger family, trapped inside their cramped tenement, struggle to hold different visions of an American dream and the Jewish experience. Directed by Tyne Rafaeli, this classic battle between hope and disillusionment returns to Broadway, speaking thrillingly to the crises of the present moment.

The Snow Goose, by Jonathan Larson, Cott Gilmour & Claire McKenzie, will run Aug. 28 – Oct. 18 (opening Sept. 16) at CT’s Goodspeed, directed by Marshall Pailet.

The musical is set on the windswept coast of England just before the outbreak of World War II. It follows Philip Rhayader, a reclusive artist living in an abandoned lighthouse, and Frith, a resilient young woman, whose lives change when they rescue an injured snow goose.

When Gretta, a gifted but heartbroken songwriter, crosses paths with Dan, a record producer on the brink of burnout, their chance encounter sparks an unexpected collaboration that transforms them both. Begin Again features an original score by Grammy Award-winning pop-rock band Train (“Drops of Jupiter,” “Hey, Soul Sister”), direction by Lorin Latarro (Waitress, Chess), and is inspired by the Academy Award–nominated film written and directed by John Carney (Once). Set against the exhilarating backdrop of New York City, Begin Again is a world premiere musical about rediscovering passion, purpose, and the courage to start over.
